PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Testosterone Cypionate which is the oil-soluble 17 (beta)-cyclopentylpropionate ester of the androgenic hormone testosterone.
DRUG CLASS
Anabolic/androgenic steroids.
CHARACTERISTICS
Testosterone is often used to promote growth of muscle, bones and other tissues as well because of its ability to increase cell growth and division by improved nitroogen balance. This is happening due to increased protein synthesis.
INDICATION
Testosterone Cypionate is indicated for replacement therapy in the male in conditions associated with symptoms of deficiency or absence of endogenous testosterone. It is used primary in treatment hypogonadism (congenital or acquired)-testicular failure due to cryptorchidism, bilateral torsion. orchitis, vanishing testis syndrome; or orehidectony or in treatment hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (congenital or acquired)-idiopathic gonadotropin or LHRH deficiency, or pituitary-hypothalamic injury from tumors, trauma, or radiation.
CONTRAINDICATION
Patients having following health conditions should avoid this drug: Known hypersensitivity to the drug, males with carcinoma of the breast, males with known or suspected carcinoma of the prostate gland, women who are or who may become pregnant or patients with serious cardiac, hepatic or renal disease.
SIDE EFFECTS
The following adverse reactions in the male might occur while using Testosterone Cypionate: Gynecomastia, excessive frequency and duration of penis erections. Oligospermia may occur at high dosages. Hirsutism, male pattern of baldness, seborrhea and acne. Retention of sodium, chloride, water, potassium, calcium, and inorganic phosphates. Nausea, cholestatic jaundice, alterations in liver function tests, rarely hepatocellular neoplasms and peliosis hepatic, increased or decreased libido, headache, anxiety, depression, and generalized paresthesia. Hypersensitivity, including skin manifestations and anaphylactoid reactions. Inflammation and pain at the site of intramuscular injection. Patients should be instructed to report any of the following: nausea, vomiting, changes in skin color, ankle swelling, too frequent or persistent crections of the penis. If any ofthese effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Discuss the risks and Denefits of therapy with your doctor. Testosterone Cypionate is not recommended for use in nursing mothers.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Testosterone Cypionate is for intramuscular use only. The suggested dosage for Testosterone Cypionate varies depending on the age, sex, and diagnosis of the individual patient. Dosage is adjusted according to the patient’s response and be appearance of adverse reactions. Doses range between 200 to 600 mg every 7 to 10 days.
